Pirate

"Pirate" is available for rehoming. He is an exceptionally handsome 5 year old chesnut TB gelding, with a white stripe, two white front stockings and one white hind sock. Pirate raced just twice, earning $700. He was sold at auction to a local dealer in January, and we in turn purchased him from the dealer's lot one day later. Pirate has an old, bowed tendon on his left front leg which was never treated/set by his former owners, and which may prevent him from jumping. He is, however, sound for all flat disciplines as per our veterinarian's report, which concludes "Ride and enjoy!". He is very kind and gentle, has good ground manners, and is a very pretty mover despite the old injury. He represents a lovely amateur dressage, western or english pleasure, and trail horse prospect. We have restarted Pirate under saddle, and he is a fast learner! In only three sessions in the arena, Pirate already picks up both leads correctly at the canter. He responds well to direct rein, is learning how to respond to leg aids, he has great brakes, and is very kind for both beginner adult riders, and children.

Pirate is up to date on vaccinations, deworming, farrier, and he has enjoyed possibly his first ever dental visit. The full veterinarian's report is available upon request.

Thanks are due to our friend Viktoria, who contributed half of Pirate's purchase price and also towards his 30-day quarantine care costs. As always, we are indebted to our friend Kathy for providing transportation for Pirate, and wonderful foster care.

Rehoming Fee: $1000
